By Border Queen Harvest Hub
We’re excited to introduce the newest member of the Border Queen Harvest Hub family — Shelly Rogers!
Last summer, Shelly, her husband Jonathan, and their two daughters traded town life for country life just east of Wellington on Hillside. Shelly grew up in Wellington, and for nearly a decade, she’s been diving into homesteading — learning to produce more of her family’s food herself.
She’s experimented with many things including:
Sourdough
Canning
Gardening
Chickens (including a successful hoop coop!)
Protecting her flock has definitely been a learning curve — but a rewarding one! Since moving to the farm, their homestead has grown to include goats, sheep, rabbits, quail, and plenty of chickens… producing about 2 dozen eggs a day!
Shelly is also active in the community — she serves on the Prime Directive Council (PDC) and works with local 4-H youth alongside her daughters. Her husband is a published children’s book author, and together they’re inspiring young people to write their own stories too — especially about animals with big personalities!
