The Sumner County Fair in Caldwell never disappoints—and this year was no exception! With cooler-than-usual August weather, the fairgrounds were buzzing with energy, excitement, and a strong sense of community.
Fairgoers enjoyed classic traditions like 4-H students proudly showing their prize-winning animals, and rows of vibrant produce, blooming flowers, and incredible youth art on display. Friday brought big smiles and laughter during Mutton Bustin' and the Farm Olympics, where kids competed in fun, hands-on farm challenges.
The famous Kolache Kitchen stayed busy baking the Czech favorite—flaky, fruit-filled kolaches that flew off the trays as fast as they were baked.
Vendors added to the fun, including:
Nelson P. Nelson and his ever-popular temporary tattoos
Jon Falkenburg’s handcrafted wood pieces
Hand-drawn caricatures by a local artist
A bustling booth from the Border Queen Harvest Hub
And of course, mouthwatering food trucks lined up to keep everyone fueled for the fun!
The highlight of Saturday was the big parade—a spectacular showcase of vintage cars, tractors, horse riders, floats, and more. Kids lined the streets to catch candy tossed from every direction, their hands and pockets full of sweet treasures by the end.
Thanks to Gaston’s Flooring in Wellington, everyone was treated to free burgers after the parade, and the celebration continued into the evening with a crowd-pleasing performance on the main stage by Krislyn Arthur & The Train Wrecks.
It was a weekend full of hometown pride, small-town charm, and lasting memories. The Sumner County Fair remains a cherished tradition—and we’re already counting down the days to next year!
