Border Queen Harvest Hub is excited to welcome our newest member, Lindsay French of Oxford, Kansas! Lindsay, her husband Eli, and their two sons live on a beautiful property in Oxford. While it’s not a working farm, it has all the charm of one—sprawling trees, acreage to explore, an abundant garden, and wildlife right out the back door.
Lindsay and Eli love exploring small-town establishments and bouncing around new business ideas. Eli is a true foodie, and that passion has rubbed off on Lindsay. She enjoys experimenting with natural ingredients, tending her garden full of herbs and vegetables, and trying out new recipes.
During the COVID years, the couple was visiting a brewery in Topeka when Lindsay noticed they were selling homemade lavender ice cream out of a cooler. That sparked an idea: Everyone loves ice cream—why not try it herself?
She began experimenting with flavors in her own kitchen and, later, rented out a certified commercial kitchen in a recently closed coffee shop. Soon, French Farms Creamery was born. Lindsay draws inspiration from local ingredients, featuring flavors like mint, sage, cantaloupe, and watermelon, alongside beloved classics such as vanilla and coffee chocolate chip.
Her runaway best-seller? Lavender Honey Ice Cream—made with lavender and honey sourced from fellow Hub members at Elam’s Lavender and Honey Farm just outside Oxford. Vanilla holds the second spot, likely because it’s so easy to dress up with toppings.
Other flavors she’s crafted include Salted Cantaloupe, Peach Rosemary, Toffee Crunch, Biscoff, and more. Each batch is small, creative, and rooted in her love of fresh, local food.
You can currently find French Farms Creamery ice cream at Flying Toad, Ladybird Brewing Company, Werner Creek Farm, and Ellis Island Farms. And something tells us this is just the beginning—we’ll be seeing a lot more of Lindsay and her inspired flavors in the future!
