First Cooking Class Held in Border Queen Commercial Kitchen

The Border Queen Commercial Kitchen hosted its very first cooking class on Sunday, December 14, from 1:00–3:00 p.m., marking an exciting milestone for the newly opened community space. The class was led by Shannon Kuehny and welcomed participants Luanne Jamison, Toni Kendall, Jill Turek, and Paige Turek.

The class focused on meal preparation, with participants working together to make two hearty dishes—enchiladas and red wine lasagna. Each recipe yielded 16 servings, providing plenty of ready-to-go meals. Portions were also customized into smaller meals for Toni Kendall, who isn’t cooking for a large household, demonstrating the flexibility and practicality of meal prep cooking.

This inaugural class also served as a wonderful opportunity to showcase Native Grass Kuehny Beef, a locally sourced product featured in the recipes and available through the Border Queen Harvest Hub.

The Border Queen Commercial Kitchen opened this fall and offers far more than cooking classes. The space can be rented for individual meal prep, preparing food for business ventures, social cooking gatherings, and a variety of other uses. Community members are encouraged to take advantage of this versatile kitchen.
