The Border Queen Harvest Hub is a community-based approach that creates economic opportunities for farms and ranches by establishing a physical system of production, processing and distribution of local food that can be purchased by local, regional and national consumers.
Oftentimes, growers are unsure if they need a license to sell their products, what type of license is required and how to obtain it. To help simplify this, I want to encourage you to read over the MF3138 Foods Sold Directly to Consumers in Kansas: Regulations and Food Safety Best Practices (ksu.edu). Within this document, you will find information about what types of foods may be sold directly to the consumer with or without licensing, labeling requirements and general food safety information. You will also find requirements for selling across state lines.
This is very helpful since we are in the Border Queen region, after all!
