The recent Border Queen Harvest Hub (BQHH) Town Hall in Winfield was a notable achievement, drawing a diverse audience eager to gain insights into the Harvest Hub initiative.
The BQHH is a practical, physical food supply chain that involves three essential components: producers, processors and distributors. Producers cultivate and grow food, processors prepare it for consumption through various methods—such as commercial kitchens for value-added products, meat processing or packaging for distribution—and distributors who facilitate the purchase and consumption of this food.
Our BQHH website connects these three components, thereby strengthening the regional food supply chain and enabling farms to enter the market on a smaller scale. Supporting these local farms is essential to sustaining the agricultural industry.
To enhance awareness and support, we are engaged in marketing and advertising efforts, including hosting events like the Market of Farms (the next being on Oct. 26, in Caldwell). Our partnerships with Vision Caldwell, Shop Kansas Farms, the Kansas Farm Bureau, Sumner County Economic Development, and our upcoming collaboration with Kansas Agritourism are key to promoting the availability of fresh, locally sourced food within a 60 to 100 mile radius.
If you are a producer, processor or distributor, we invite you to create a FREE account on our website, www.borderqueenharvesthub.com. This will increase your visibility and connect you with a community dedicated to supporting local food.
Our aim is to foster brand recognition through identity preservation, ensuring consumers associate the BQHH logo with food produced, processed and distributed in this region. This will build consumer trust and loyalty, creating a sustainable demand for locally grown products.
